At Colour & Light Productions we are dedicated to guiding new writers and composers to create diverse and interesting new writing. We want to make a positive change to the theatrical industry, and impact the way that modern theatre is approached.
Colour & Light began when Dylan Wynford and I met some 7 years ago at Sixth Form. After completing training at Mountview Academy Of Theatre Arts, we have collaborated on a number of projects, ranging from the writing of musicals to producing our own shows. In 2017 Dylan's first musical Bright Young Thingswas work-shopped and performed at The Other Palace (Produced by Craig Nom Chong and Directed by Adam Lenson). In the summer of 2017 we continued work on musical Catatonic Matt The Musical, which began its life in the summer of 2013 when we were just 17.
In 2018 we won the Stockwell Playhouse Bursary Prize For Writing for our production of my own play tube at the 34th One Act Festival. We went on to produce the Out Of The Shadows Festivalwith Theatre N16. We gave 12 writers the opportunity to develop a piece, have it directed by some of the UK's brightest young directors and performed by some of the best young actors the industry has to offer. The festival was a hugely important step for us as creatives; some of the pieces have continued on further, for example DMC by Amy Kitts has gone on to be performed at the Tristan Bates, andExactly Differentby Meg Pickup has inspired the creation of an all-female theatre collective, Exactly Different Theatre, who went on to performConversations With Ed at the Bread & Roses Theatre in Clapham. They continue to create their own work today.
Since then we have been involved in a number of creative projects. Dylan has developed work as an actor and creative at theatres like the Bush Theatre, Theatre Royal Stratford East and The Other Palace, whilst I have worked with companies such as Foliate Head Films on projects like The Bee Eaters, a feature length coming of age drama set in rural Staffordshire. My relationship with Foliate is on-going, and we are currently working on a new film which begins shooting in April 2020. After winning the Stockwell Playhouse Bursary Prize for Writing in 2018 I have developed a strong relationship with the Stockwell and I am fortunate enough to have developed a number of projects with them, such as my own pieces tube and FUZZ.
I worked as a Production Assistant at David Ball UK, who mentored me on producing at a professional level. I am also a Duty Manager at the Lion & Unicorn Theatre, a space that is dedicated to giving opportunities to emerging companies and creatives to try their work in a fantastically diverse space. I am currently a Creative Producer at Warts And All Theatre, a dream job for me. With this position I get to work alongside Christopher Elmer-Gorry and his team as we develop arts and culture in the Midlands. My first project with WAAT is the Young Artists Festival 2020 that is taking place in Wellingborough.
We are always open to new creative ventures with people who share the same values as us; If you would like to create something with us, get in touch or if you want someone to give their opinion on a project, you can always contact us.
